Hakubaku (meaning 'white wheat') is a household name in Japan and produces the most widely consumed dried noodle products for the highly discerning Japanese market. Since being established in 1940, Hakubaku has become not only the biggest selling brand in Japan but also a true export success story, sending its premium quality products to markets in North America, the U.K. and Asia. It also enjoys a half share of the lucrative Japanese barley market.

The success of Hakubaku is in no small part due to an innovative approach to processing its raw materials. The Founder of Hakubaku was the first to devise a process whereby the black part of the kernel was removed before processing.

Hakubaku moved its manufacturing operations to Australia in 1996 to have direct access to the best and purest wheat varieties for noodle production, in particular, the highly suitable Rosella strain of wheat, grown only in Australia.
